SHELL_DEFAULT_MAX_TIMEOUT_MS
constSHELL_DEFAULT_MAX_TIMEOUT_MS:600000=600000
Defined in: packages/core/dist/config/shell-policy.d.ts:322
EXT-125 — default CEILING (ms) on a time budget the MODEL asks for in a shell tool call’s
timeoutMs argument, when GthDevToolsConfig.shell does not set maxTimeout.
Ten minutes, because the longest thing a repo’s own dev commands plausibly need is a full test
suite, and run_tests is the likeliest of them to want that. Five times the
SHELL_DEFAULT_TIMEOUT_MS default gives that room while still bounding a stuck command at
an interval a human notices.
The ceiling matters more than the default does. The default is what a call gets for asking nothing and is easy to raise in config for one project; the ceiling is the only thing standing between a model and an unbounded wait, so it is the number to argue about.
